CONGRATULATIONS!
Having your computer serviced or repaired by Empire Computer means your system has been checked by a knowledgeable technician and, if you took advantage of the service,
is protected by one of the most effective anti-virus and anti-malware programs available.
Keeping in mind that there is no anti-virus program that can protect you from everything,
please review our recommended best practices for those that choose to use a Windows Operating System:
- The best line of defense is you, the user. Be smart about where you navigate to and what you download.
- Avoid sites commonly known to have viruses, particularly pornographic and cracked software sites.
- Avoid the use of P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing programs, such as limewire, bearshare, kazaa, etc.
- Ask us about our parental control software and make sure to supervise children when they are online.
- Windows users should either turn on Automatic Updates or visit the Windows Update Site and install security updates.
- There are no local girls available that want to meet you and there are no free iPods. Please don't click on these ads.
- Never make a purchase from an unsolicited email.
- Never respond to any spam messages or click on any links in the message.
- Use webmail. If you prefer to use an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc), avoid using the preview functionality of the email client software.
- Never provide your email address on websites, newsgroup lists or other online public forums, or setup a "dummy" email address you use only for that purpose.
- Never respond to emails that request personal financial information.
- Call your financial institution and verify that they are requesting information from you via email.
- Check the website you are visiting is secure (look for https in address bar) before you provide personal or financial information.
- Use Firefox or another standards compliant browser. Don't use Internet Explorer.
- Don't install more than one anti-virus product.
